Flies with legs on their head, exam results and pancakes Just a quick post before I go to bed. Today was a pretty cool day. Lectures were not too bad, although the photo of fly with legs growing out of it's head was rather disturbing. And the half naked picture of our (slightly overweight and middle aged) lecturer projected onto the big screen was even more so. Yes you did read those correctly. No I'm not going insane. No I wasn't drunk. Yes we saw both of those in our lecture. And yes they were both real. And scary. And really didn't need to be shown. Isn't biochemistry fun? Don't you all wish you had taken it? Hm... maybe I should have chosen Maths? That's safe surely! Haha seriously though, biochem is pretty cool. Although I may just be liking it since we got exam results today for the exam we did in Feb, and I got a B which is a 2:1 ^_^ Which is pretty damn good to say I thought I was going to fail as the module was EVIL and really hard  ... but I didn't so yay! That means (if I take coursework into consideration) I should be on a high 2:1/low 1st ^_^ ... how cool is that?! *touches lots of wood and hopes she can keep this up* Anyway, today I also went shopping with Jo and bought some cool new clothes, and we went for a drink in Southside this evening with Ian as it was his birthday, and then on the way back Jo got a very random craving for pancakes so we went and ate some ^_^ Yum! Gah this laptop is acting wierd, so I'm going to shut up here and turn it off and go to bed. Sleep is good. Nightnight people, love ya's -k- xxx

Accident Today was pretty scary. I saw someone get knocked down, and it has shaken me up quite a bit. I was just walking along from Tescos to halls, when I saw a van turn around a corner and then suddenly stop, and when I looked I could see a bike under it, then I spotted a woman too. I was at the other side of the road and a small bit down, so by the time I realised what had happened loads of people had already run over and a girl was ringing the police. A few things went through my mind - stay and try and help or leave? I noticed that one of the guys who had run over in the first place was really taking comtrol, and seemed to know what he was doing, and also that the woman who had been hit was trying to sit up, which meant that she wasnt too badly injured. A crowd was beginning to form at this point (as it was a relatively busy road) so I decided to leave, as I know that a crowd in situations like that are a bad thing and could really cause the woman to panic, so I left when I was sure she would be okay (as in I could see she was concious and there were lots of people around her who were helping). Thinking back I wonder if I could have helped if I had been the one closer to the place when it happened, and I'm not so sure. I mean, I have all the first aid training to deal with injuries, but I'm not so sure I would have remembered it all under a stressful situation. Plus it had been quite a few months since I did any practice, so that's quite worrying. And most of the things I know are to do with water-baised incidents as opposed to road ones. But surely the basic principles are the same? It is scary to think that although I have been taught everything I need to know to deal with situations like that, I may not have been able to cope and may have made a mistake if I had been the one dealing with her. To be honest, I froze when it happened, and my mind just went blank and I didn't know what to do. It was only for a few seconds, but in that time several people had already run over to her. They say that when you witness your first incident (and by 'they' I mean the people who taught me on the lifeguard course) you freeze up, which is very true. I mean, when working at the swimming pool the first time (and well only time) I had to pull a kid out of the water, I froze for a few seconds while my brain tried to figure out what was happening. Luckily it started working pretty quickly, and I was able to get the kid out using just the pole and I didn't have to jump in after her, so it was all okay. But what if I always freeze when there is an incident? That is very scary to think about, so I am definatly going to re-read all my first aid notes in my lifeguard manual at some point over the next few days, just to reassure myself that I know it all. I have run it all through in my head (ie the procedures) and I do remember all the thoery, it is just a question of if I can act on instinct. I do freeze up when I get scared - some people get adrenaline rushes and are able to work faster, but I freeze. Even things like exam results - I freeze before I can force myself to look at them. It really isn't a good trait to have, and I really need to try and overcome it. But I am not entirely sure how. I am not subject to very many scary things, so I guess my body just doesn't know how to deal with it. Anyway, I have definatly talked enough here and I not have a really bad headache as I am exhausted, so I am going to go to bed. Night night everyone, and take care. love you all, -Kayleigh xxx

Goddag Goddag means 'good-day' or 'hello' in Swedish and .. Danish maybe?! .. Anyway there is a random fact for you all. Today had been ... odd ... to say the least. Some bits of it have been really fun, and some pretty scary. I will write about the fun bits first, then put the scary bit in another (much more serious) post. Okay, so I have learned alot of new and exciting words: oogenesis, spermatogonium, polyspermy, goddag ... and also how to say hippopotamus, hungry, why, because, rabbit and cat in sign language ^_^ (see Jo I was paying attention to you!) Anyway... on with the rest of my day. Um ... uni was like usual, so I won't blabber about that ... Um ... I FINALLY gave Ryo his brithday persent (only 4 days late!) and he was very impressed with it ^_^ Yay! Okay also today I got my new mobile, which was very exciting, and so I have spent a substancial amount of the day playing about with it. It's very cool though, and plays cool MP3s I sent to it (thank you Jo for teaching me how to convert things ^_^) and when Jo rings me a Mikoto appears, and when Holly rings me a Utena appears... I need pictures for everyone else though ^_^ .. I will get them eventually! And my ringtone is a cool Mai-Hime background music piece which is VERY awesome. And my background on my phone is a Will Smith (curtosy of Holly who I asked to select me a picture ^_^) Jo was laughing at my accent again today, and she isn't the only one who does it it's so mean T_T ... just because I have a northern accent and say things like 'bath', 'graph', 'castle' and 'laugh' different... and Ryo laughs at me about it too ... waaaa ... Okay, I am not in a joking mood really. See my next post. -k- xxx

Finally getting there ^_^ Well, with a HUGE thanks to Jo, I am finally getting somewhere with making this layout how I want it... she was a great help fixing most of the little problems the site, and although she almost died when she saw the mess the html code was in she managed to make some sense of it ^_^... And I'm beginning to understand more about html and CSS too! Wahoo thanks Jo you are a great teacher ^_^ It's strange but I really enjoy working on things like this... while doing it I think that I maybe should have done a computing degree... but then I remember all the work Yihlyn, Johan, Sadegh, Holly and all the other computing students have to do and I'm grateful for Biochem ^_^... speaking of which me and Jo (well, just Jo) solved the evil question on our coursework! Hurrah! Love you all, I'm going to bed soon as I have a 9 o'clock start in the morning T_T -k- xxx p.s. I don't think this displays correctly --> ¬_¬ Can anyone see it properly without wierd A things in it!?

Uni Gah term starts again tomorrow, which is not good. I have a 9 o'clock start... nooooo... It's wierd because most other courses have exams coming up in the next few weeks, but us poor biochem students have 6 weeks worth of lectures, then 2 weeks exam leave, then 3 exams in the last week of term. It's really not good, as most people will have totally finished for the year before we have even started our exams! My roomie finishes on the 6th of June, which is when my exam leave starts! One thing I am grateful of though, is the fact that there is not a huge amount of stress at the moment. Currently the library is packed with poor students who have exams in the first few weeks of term - I know crazy people who have done all nighters, which personally I think is stupid as there is no way anyone could function correctly in the middle of the night. I think it is better to work during the day, but stop reletively early and get a good nights sleep. That way you don't die, and you will be more refreshed in the morning. Because surely the people who work all night then sleep the entire next day? Or atleast half of it... so whats the point in shifting your sleep clock by 12 hours when you don't need to? My roomie came back from the library at some stupid time this morning (about 4 I think) but she has only just got up now (its just after 1pm) ... and I'm sure she will be going back to the library when she is finished getting ready. I really don't see the point! You don't get any extra work done if you do an all nighter, as you still need to sleep and will just end up doing it during the day! Anyway, I haven't been doing nothing all holidays - I have had a substantial amount of coursework, which I have pretty much finished although there is one part of one piece neither me or Jo can figure out. So we are going to sit tonight and try and understand it. *sigh* such is the life of an imperial student ... hmm ... that phrase is actually one Ryo says a lot ... how fun ^_^ ... speaking of Ryo it was his birthday on Friday, but his present STILL hasn't arrived but I ordered it quite a while ago, which is really not good. Damn rubbish post. It smells. I mean not literally (well it might if there is a smelly postman) ... what the hell am I going on about now? I'm so bored T_T ... I am going to go find something else to do. Might go try and do my coursework... *pause* ...no. I will go chat to some people instead. Love you all! -k- xxx

Jo's murder mystery Okay , I know this will be really late, but here is a post about Jo's birthday party ^_^ She had a murder mystery, but I had never done one before so was rather aprehesive about it. Also I only knew a handful of the people who were going, as most were Jo's friends from home. So before hand I really had no idea what it was going to be like. I was all willing to try it out though ^_^ Much to my delight, it turned out to be highly enjoyable, and although I kept getting VERY confused throughout it (I think most people did though), I had a really good time, and I think Jo did (which is what counts) ^_^ Her sister Gill turned out to be the murderer, and typically I was the only one who knew her motive but still didn't get it right as I forgot about it, and so noone else knew either as I didn't pass the information on! Ian managed to guess it was Gill, although he didn't know the motive. Oh how silly I felt. *sigh* Such is the life of ... well ... me. Know who did it, but forgot. Hehe. I really shouldn't be a detective. Anyway, since most of the party was done in character, I didn't really get a chance to speak properly to many of Jo's friends, which was a shame. Although in the morning I did speak to Richard a fair bit, who was absoloutly lovely and just as Jo had described him. He was the one dressed as a woman during the murder mystery, so seeing him in men's clothes was very odd at first! Anyway, here is a link to photos from the event ---> Photos Love you all! -k- xxx

New layout... There are lots of errors here, so please bear with me while I slowly get them all fixed... Also I can't take credit for this layout as I didn't make it (the person who did is credited in the 'navigations' section) Also I haven't managed to get the 'comments' link on the posts... need to figure out what the html is for that.... so until then please use the 'shoutout' link and give me a shout in my very own shoutbox ^_^ Oh yeah please point out any errors/broken links/whatever on the site. I need feedback ^_^ Past archives are in 'navigations'. The 'about me' link only works if you click where it says 'abo' ^^;; ... don't ask why but its cos i edited the background as it origionaly said something stupid like 'gurl' which I didn't like so I changed it and now the link size is still the origional size... does that make sense?! No ... well anyway off I go to mess about with it some more... Love you all -k- xxx
